It is enough to buy only the developer bottle to double the capacity of the original KIT.
In fact, the KIT consists of developer, bleach, fixer and stabiliser, but only the developer fully exhausts its capacity to develop the films. The other three components still have some reserve.
If the used developer is replaced by a new one, it is therefore possible to develop about 12 more films, completely exhausting the other chemicals in the kit.
The ability to develop twice as many films is not only cheaper, but also avoids wasting the other chemicals that are still usable after the first 12 films.
